Wedding Photographer Cost in Delhi NCR (2026): What ₹50,000 vs ₹2 Lakh Actually Gets You

Last November I sat in a living room in Sector 50, Gurgaon, with a bride's father and three photography quotes spread across the coffee table. ₹65,000. ₹1,90,000. ₹4,40,000. Same wedding, same dates, same three events. He asked me the question every family in Delhi NCR asks at some point: "Are the expensive ones cheating us, or is the cheap one going to ruin the photos?"

Neither, usually. But the answer took forty minutes, and it's the reason I'm writing this.

Wedding photographer cost in Delhi NCR in 2026 runs from about ₹40,000 for a one-day traditional setup to ₹8 lakh and beyond for the studios with a waiting list. That's not a useful range on its own. What's useful is knowing what sits inside each price band, what pushes a quote from one band to the next, and which line items are padding.

By the end of this you'll know what a realistic photography budget looks like for your wedding, how to read a quote so nothing surprises you at delivery, and which questions have saved my clients lakhs. I've spent twelve years sitting in rooms like that one. Let's use them.

The short answer

For a typical three-event Delhi NCR wedding (sangeet, wedding, reception) with candid plus traditional coverage and a highlight film, budget ₹1.2 to ₹2.5 lakh. Below ₹75,000 you're getting a two-person team and basic edits, which is fine if that's what you want. Above ₹3.5 lakh you're paying for a specific studio's style, a bigger crew, and cinematic films that take three months to arrive.

Why two quotes for the same wedding look nothing alike

Here's the thing. Photography isn't priced per hour or per guest. It's priced on crew, days, and post-production, and every studio weighs those differently.

A ₹65,000 quote usually means two people: one candid shooter, one traditional. They'll cover the main day, maybe the sangeet for a small add-on, and hand you a pen drive of edited JPEGs in three to four weeks. There's no cinematographer, no drone, and the "highlight video" is a two-minute reel cut from clips that look like they came off a phone. Because they did.

A ₹1,90,000 quote for the same wedding means four to six people across three days. Two candid, one traditional, one or two cinematographers, maybe an assistant handling lights. You get a proper film, a teaser within a week, and an album that isn't an afterthought.

The ₹4,40,000 quote is where the studio's name enters the price. You're paying for their editing style, their lead shooter being physically present (not a junior wearing the studio's t-shirt), same-day edits, and often a pre-wedding shoot bundled in. Whether that's worth it depends on how much you care about photos versus, say, food. I'll say it plainly: for most families this is the least worth-it band, unless you already love that studio's work and can afford it without flinching.

A couple I worked with in Noida (Sector 128 farmhouse, around 280 guests, November 2025) had a total budget of ₹28 lakh and had shortlisted a ₹3,80,000 studio because a cousin used them. I asked to see the cousin's album. Beautiful. Then I asked who shot it. The studio's founder, two years ago. He no longer shoots weddings under ₹6 lakh. They'd have paid ₹3.8 lakh for a junior team and the founder's Instagram feed. We found a two-person studio led by someone who had left that same big name, at ₹1,65,000. The lesson: you're buying the person holding the camera, not the logo on the invoice.

What ₹50,000, ₹1.5 lakh and ₹4 lakh actually buy in Delhi NCR

Here's how the bands break down for a standard three-event wedding in 2026, based on quotes I've seen this season across Gurgaon, South Delhi, Noida and Faridabad.

Budget (₹40K – 80K)Mid-range (₹1.2L – 2.5L)Premium (₹3.5L – 8L+)
Crew size24–66–10
Days covered1 (main day)2–33–4 plus pre-wedding
Candid photographers1 (often the owner)22–3, lead shooter guaranteed
CinematographyBasic camera or phone1–2 dedicated cinematographers2–3 plus drone and gimbal
Highlight film1–2 min reel3–5 min film plus teaser5–8 min film plus same-day edit
Edited photos delivered300–500800–1,5001,500–3,000
AlbumNot included or basicOne 30–40 page premium albumMultiple albums, parents' copies
Delivery time3–4 weeks6–10 weeks10–16 weeks
Pre-wedding shootAdd-on ₹15K – 25KOften included, else ₹25K – 40KIncluded, sometimes outstation

What to take from this: the jump from budget to mid-range is mostly about crew and film. The jump from mid-range to premium is mostly about the studio's name and delivery polish. The photos themselves improve less than the price suggests.

Reading a photography quote: what the line items really mean

Photography quotes in Delhi NCR have their own vocabulary, and a lot of it is designed to sound like more than it is. I go deeper on the anatomy of a quote in our wedding photography cost guide, but here's the decoder I hand to clients.

What the quote saysWhat it usually meansAsk this
"Candid + traditional coverage"One person each; the traditional shooter is often a junior"Who exactly is shooting, and can I see their work, not the studio's?"
"Cinematic highlight film"3–5 min film; music licensing is your problem"Which music will you use, and is it licensed for Instagram?"
"Unlimited photos"Unlimited raw clicks; edited count is capped"How many edited photos, and what's the charge above that?"
"Drone coverage included"Subject to venue and police permission, often skipped on the day"What happens to the price if the drone can't fly?"
"Premium album"Usually 30 pages; extra sheets charged"Pages, size, and cost per extra sheet?"
"Same-day edit"60–90 sec teaser at the reception; needs an extra crew member"Is the editor on-site, and is that in the price?"
"Travel & stay extra"Applies even within NCR for early call times"Is Gurgaon to Faridabad 'travel'?"

The last row catches more families than any other. A studio based in Lajpat Nagar quoted a Faridabad family "travel extra" for a Sector 15 banquet, which added ₹9,000 across three days. Nobody had asked.

Also note GST. Photography services attract 18% GST under the CBIC rate schedule (current rates are on cbic.gov.in), and a surprising number of quotes print the pre-tax figure in large font and the tax line in small font. On a ₹2 lakh quote that's ₹36,000 you didn't plan for. Ask whether the number is inclusive before you compare anything.

Where the photography budget leaks

I've watched the same five leaks happen for twelve years. In rough order of damage:

The biggest is booking on the studio's portfolio without confirming the shooter. Covered above. It causes more disappointment than everything else combined.

Second is the edited-photo cap. Families see "unlimited clicks" and assume unlimited output. Then the delivery has 600 photos and the studio wants ₹40 per additional edit. On a 300-guest wedding where every aunt wants her own photo, that's ₹15,000 to ₹25,000 in extras.

Third is the album. Most mid-range packages include one 30-page album. Parents want copies. Each parents' album runs ₹12,000 to ₹22,000 depending on paper. Budget for two extra from day one, or negotiate them in before you sign, while the studio still wants the booking.

Fourth is music licensing on the film. If the studio uses a Bollywood track, your film gets muted on Instagram and YouTube. Good studios now use licensed libraries. Cheap ones don't, and you find out at upload.

Fifth is pre-wedding creep. It starts as "included", then there's a location fee, an outfit-change surcharge, and a "styling" add-on. I've seen a "free" pre-wedding shoot end at ₹48,000.

I remember a family in Faridabad, around 400 guests, budget ₹32 lakh, wedding at a farmhouse off Surajkund Road. They booked a ₹1,40,000 package in July for a December wedding. By the wedding, extras had taken it to ₹2,17,000: two parents' albums, 400 extra edits, a drone permission fee, and travel. Every extra was legitimate. None of it was in the first conversation. The lesson: the quote is the floor, not the price. Ask for the ceiling.

Events matter more than guests

Guest count changes your catering bill. It barely changes your photography bill. What changes photography is the number of events and the number of days, because every event means crew hours and every day means a fresh call time.

Events coveredTypical Delhi NCR mid-range priceNotes
Wedding only (1 day)₹60,000 – ₹1,10,000Smallest crew, one album
Wedding + reception (2 days)₹95,000 – ₹1,70,000Same crew, shorter reception hours
Sangeet + wedding + reception (3 days)₹1,20,000 – ₹2,50,000The standard package everyone quotes
Haldi + mehendi + sangeet + wedding + reception (4–5 days)₹2,00,000 – ₹4,00,000Haldi and mehendi are half-days; push for 50% rates

The takeaway: if the budget is tight, cut a day of coverage before you cut crew quality. Haldi with one candid photographer for three hours is a ₹15,000 add-on. Nobody needs a cinematographer at the haldi. Nobody.

One client, 350 guests, Jaipur destination, December 2024, asked me whether to bring a Delhi photographer or hire local. A Delhi mid-range studio quoted ₹2,10,000 plus ₹45,000 travel and stay for six people. A Jaipur studio of the same quality quoted ₹1,45,000 flat. They went local and the photos were excellent. If you're doing a destination wedding, compare the numbers on our Jaipur wedding cost page before you assume the Delhi studio has to travel.

What I'd do with a ₹15 – 40 lakh wedding

For a ₹15 lakh wedding in Delhi NCR I'd cap photography at ₹90,000 to ₹1,10,000. Two-day coverage, two candid shooters, one cinematographer, one album. Skip the drone.

For ₹25 lakh, ₹1,40,000 to ₹1,80,000. Three days, four-person crew, proper film with licensed music, two parents' albums negotiated in.

For ₹40 lakh, ₹2,20,000 to ₹2,80,000. Same as above with the lead shooter guaranteed in writing, a same-day edit at the reception, and pre-wedding included. Still not the ₹4.4 lakh studio. I think the marginal ₹1.5 lakh is better spent on food, and I'll defend that at any dinner table.

That works out to roughly 6% to 7% of total budget, which is close to what our Delhi NCR wedding cost page shows as the market baseline. If you're spending more than 10% on photography, something else in your budget is starving.

Questions to ask before you pay the advance

  • Who exactly is shooting each event, by name, and can I see their last three weddings (not the studio's best)?
  • Is the quoted number inclusive of 18% GST?
  • How many edited photos are included, and what's the per-photo rate above that?
  • Which music library do you use for films, and is it licensed for social media?
  • What happens to the drone charge if the venue or police refuse permission?
  • How many album pages are included, and what does each parents' copy cost?
  • What's the delivery timeline in writing, and what happens if it slips?
  • Is travel within NCR chargeable, and is stay needed for a 6 a.m. call time?
  • What's your cancellation and date-change policy if the muhurat moves?
  • Do I get the raw files, and at what cost?

If you'd rather we shortlist photographers who've already answered these questions, leave your details on the WedMeWed vendors page and we'll get back to you.

One more thing on the advance. Most studios ask 30% to 50% to block dates. Pay it by bank transfer, never cash above ₹2 lakh in a single day (the Income Tax Department caps cash receipts under Section 269ST; details on incometax.gov.in), and get a receipt naming the dates and events. If there's a dispute later, the National Consumer Helpline is the route, and a paper trail is what makes it work.

FAQ

How much does a wedding photographer cost in Delhi NCR? For a three-event wedding with candid and traditional coverage plus a film, ₹1.2 to ₹2.5 lakh is the realistic mid-range in 2026. One-day basic coverage starts around ₹40,000 to ₹60,000. Premium studios charge ₹3.5 lakh upwards.

Is candid photography worth the extra cost? Yes, if you care about photos beyond a formal album. Candid is what people actually share and frame. Traditional coverage is for the family record. Most couples should have both, with the candid shooter being the person you vet hardest.

How much advance do wedding photographers take? 30% to 50% is standard to block dates in peak season (November to February). Some studios ask 100% for December dates. Anything above 50% before the wedding is negotiable, and I'd push back.

Do photographers charge more in peak wedding season? Not always as an explicit surcharge, but good studios book out and only expensive slots remain. Booking four to six months ahead gets you the same studio at the same price. Booking in October for a December wedding means paying whatever's left.

Should I hire a Delhi photographer for a destination wedding? Usually no. Travel and stay for a six-person crew adds ₹40,000 to ₹80,000, and Jaipur, Udaipur and Goa all have strong local studios. Bring a Delhi team only if you're attached to their specific style.

Before you book anything

Get three quotes and put them in the tables above. Not the totals, the line items. Crew count, days, edited photos, album pages, GST, travel. The cheapest total is often the most expensive once you fill in the gaps, and the most expensive one sometimes has a junior shooting your pheras.

Then decide what photography is worth to you as a share of the whole wedding, not as a standalone number. A ₹2 lakh photographer sounds like a lot until you see it next to ₹9 lakh of catering. Put your real budget and guest count into the calculator and see where photography lands for your city. That's the number to walk into the next meeting with.
